Migraines and headaches have different causes. The pains associated with the common headache often results from a narrowing of the blood vessels to the brain. (Vaso constriction) However, the pain from a migraine is the opposite. During a migraine the blood vessels surrounding the brain swell. (Vaso dilation)

The major distinction between the two is that a headache is viewed as a symptom whereas a migraine is classified as a disease. Migraines can be associated with many symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound. Migraines can last from hours to days.

Relief may be achieved with bodywork and non medical treatment such as lifestyle changes may include increasing your hydration levels, changing your diet, exercising and/or swimming. Incorporating relaxation modalities such as deep breathing techniques, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, acupuncture and regular massage therapy may also be beneficial.

Check us out on Facebook for our new "Tune-up Special", a blend of acupuncture & specific massage techniques to help reduce headaches, migraines and promote relaxation.

We are designed to move. All of our intricate systems work harmoniously together to allow us to move.

In today’s modern high tech world we have become a sedentary society. We are spending too much of our time sitting. We are inhibiting our motor sensory system which can lead to poor postural alignment.

When our body becomes misaligned it initially responds with discomfort or low level pain. if unaddressed, this stimuli recruits more pain receptors. Remember, your body is communicating to you. Listen to it.

Try a variety of stretching exercising and other movement modalities to bring balance back into your muscles/body.

Good touch is truly essential for human development and is a powerful  healing force. Massage therapy (touch therapy) helps the body release natural chemicals to improve the healing process.

Just another reason to incorporate massage therapy into your lifestyle.

Walking benefits you both physically and mentally. Walking is a diverse physical activity that exercises almost every muscle in your body, helps reduce stress and boosts your energy.

Walking can be a great way to reconnect with nature and share time with a partner or friend with no distractions (always disconnect from the grid).

Try walking backwards to improve your balance, enhance your peripheral vision, and engage your attention and awareness. So go outside for a walk and reap the benefits.
